Sanford Lichtenberg

Sanford Lichtenberg was born on September 16, 1943 in Newark, NJ to Nellie and Raymond. He grew up in Hoboken and attended Fairleigh Dickinson University. Sanford was an avid chess player and competed in tournaments in NYC and NJ, collecting many trophies. In 1975, he married Agnes Brandspiegel, and they had 2 children: Susan in 1976 and Mark in 1979. Sanford worked for the State of NJ in the Department of Labor for 49 years and he enjoyed helping people improve their job opportunities by providing access to training, education, and other services. He loved his family and quality time at home; he was especially fond of his wife's cooking. Traveling was also a thrill with trips to Italy, France, and Hungary. Sanford was grateful for having 4 grandchildren: Sarah, Benjamin, Zachary, and Ezra, and he loved spending time with them talking, eating, or playing chess. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and boundless love.and affection.
