Genia Safier nee Metz – 4/29/1927-6/24/2015 Genia (Jenny) Metz was born in Riga, Latvia on 4/29/1927 to Aaron and Nadia Metz. She had one brother, Phillip Metz. Genia’s family moved to Israel from Latvia before the war. Genia met Shamai Safier in Tel Aviv, married there, and had four children: Pnina (Nina), Josepha (Sefi), Miriam (Miri) and Aaron (Ronnie). The family moved to New York in the early 1960’s, and Genia worked as a Librarian at the Hewlett-Woodmere public library. Shamai and Genia have 12 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, so far.
