She wrote "Behind the Secret Window," an award-winning memoir about her years in hiding during WWII. Nelly was instrumental in the creation of the JCRC Esther Raab Holocaust Museum & Goodwin Education Center. Her artwork lives on at Yad Vashem, the Washington Holocaust Museum, and other prestigious institutions. She opened the exhibit “Art from the Holocaust” at the World Center for Holocaust Research in Berlin, alongside German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
