Feb 13, 1976      י"ב אדר א תשל"ו

Kurt Seligman was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany on July 22, 1897 to Isak and Fanny Seligman.  He married Lucie (nee Glauberg) on January 15, 1922.  He owned a clothing store in Frankfurt am Main. On November 9, during the Kristalnacht attacks, his store was vandalized and he was arrested and taken to Buchenwald.  After a month, his wife was able to free him.  They and their only daughter, Lottie ( b. May 11, 1030, d. July 23,1979, married to Ludwig Stern), went to England in 1939 where they lived separately for a year; Kurt was in a work camp in England during that period. The family reunited together on the ship to America. They arrived in New York on September 10,1940 having sailed on the SS Cameronia, and then went to Northeast Philadelphia where they eventually bought a house.  Kurt worked as a night watchman at a factory.  They joined a congregation of fellow German Jewish refugees, Chevrah Tikvah Chodosha where he chanted Haftarah on a regular basis.  He and Lucie had 2 grandchildren: Alvin (married to Jodi Cohen) and Betty (married to Frank Adler).  Kurt died on February 13, 1976.
